Dude accidentally forwards sex tape with bosses niece to entire company
Technology is a glorious thing, but it has made it much easier for people to royally fuck up. This dude had it made - hot girlfriend he planned on marrying, a new job with his girlfriends family. It was all gravy...until....he went and accidentally forwarded him and his girlfriends sex tape to the entire company, including her uncle. The poor guy shared his fuck up on Reddit and I really feel for the guy. Here's his story:
So this happened 2 months ago and I finally feel like the heat has died down enough to share my story.
To backtrack I have been dating my girlfriend for 6.5 years. I have full intentions on getting married to her but she is currently in her final year of law school so we are waiting until she finishes.
I was kind of a screw-up in college and graduated but really didn’t learn much. I spent most of the time being hungover and playing intramural sports. After school, I did a few internships but didn’t have the skills to stay on. Luckily I landed this really good job through her family.
I was working in IT running wires and doing general phone system and computer system jobs. I worked up to a new position (I didn’t deserve) that came with a $20,000 pay raise which is huge.
The promo was a blessing and the curse. If I wouldn’t have gotten the job, I never would have been using the app. If I wouldn’t have been on the app, the whole office wouldn’t have seen my girlfriend and I having sex.
Here is how I fucked up. I was about to get a new iPhone because my storage kept running out. It would pop up every time I tried to do anything. Being in IT I knew I could just back everything up on an external and move it over when I got the new phone.
Should be easy, no problem. Only I couldn’t find my external and didn’t want them on my work computer so I used my work surface (computer hybrid). I even created a folder with all the pics she sent me and a separate folder of our “sex tape” which was more pics then video.
I never got the new phone and forgot the folder was even on the surface. Like I said I was over working a job I really didn’t understand.
Our company uses a chat app called SLACK. SLACK lets you easily drop full folders, files, and videos. Oddly enough, so does my surface.
All it took was one drag and drop and I knew what I did. The folder of EVERYTHING was sent to one of the main company sub chats. Included on that list. Her uncle who is my manager.
I thought about quitting right there. Just packing up and running. I thought about going to as many computers remotely and trying to delete it before everyone saw but it was too late. My PMs were lighting up with messages like “DID YOU MEAN TO SEND THIS?”
Next up was her uncle who sent me home. He also told me he would never be able to look at me or his niece the same again.
He didn’t fire me but I was suspended from work for 2 weeks.
I never went back to work. Also that girlfriend I was planning on marrying thought we should take some time apart. She has never come back. I have lost 20 pounds. I can’t sleep. All because of my stupid drag and drop.
Ouch. Poor guy. Imagine your perfect life ending due to a mistaken drag and drop. Always triple check your files, folks!
