Paramedics rush on stage to help ecapologist who nearly drowns on Britain's Got Talent

I don't usually watch contrived nonsense like Britain's Got Talent but if they're going to start showing near-death experiences I might have to start watching. Paramedics had to rush on stage during last night's live semi-finals after escapologist Matt Johnson found himself on the verge of drowning.

For his act, Matt was locked into a steel padlocked jacket and had a clear box placed around his head which was also locked. The box on his head was then filled up with water. To escape, Matt had to pick one of the locks and bust himself out but as the timer ticked over to the 1 minute 45 second mark, paramedics started to worry. Matt looked to be struggling with the lock and he appeared to be signalling for help.

Just as the paramedics were coming to the rescue, Matt managed to free himself after 2 minutes 21 seconds. The dude was proper wide-eyed and gasping for air like he'd been on the brink of death. Take a look:

The judges looked pretty relieved when Matt finally freed himself. I can't imagine someome dying on stage would be a great advert for the show. Simon Cowell labelled Matt a lunatic and said "If the public put you through they’re sort of voting you through in the hope you die." Fellow judge David Walliams also said "This is the perfect act for anyone who wants to watch someone drown. I was really worried for you when the paramedic came on." Unfortunately, the viewers didn't want to see this dude nearly die again so he didn't make it through the semi-finals. I guess they only like singing kids and sob stories.
